One Strawberry Crest rising senior dead, one injured in crash

PLANT CITY — One teenager died and another suffered life-threatening injuries after the car they were in struck a tree Saturday night.

According to the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office, Dylan Pulaski, 17, was speeding north on Cooper Road with Cordasha Hutchinson, also 17, in the passenger's seat. The 2007 gold Chevrolet Suburban they were in went off the east side of the road south of Knights Griffin Road W and hit a tree shortly before 8 p.m.

Hutchinson died at the scene, deputies said. Authorities flew Pulaski to a local hospital.

Hutchinson will be memorialized in Strawberry Crest's memorial garden and there will probably be an observance for next year's graduation.

Dave Brown, the principal at Strawberry Crest High School said Hutchinson and Pulaski were excited to start their senior year.

"Our school is so much like a family," he wrote in an email. "So when someone in our family is hurting, we all pull together and pray things get better. All of us are sending our love to Cordasha's family and we are all sending prayers to Dylan and his family."
