SEMINOLE — A 12-year-old girl was seriously injured after she was hit by a car near Seminole Middle School Thursday afternoon.
After school let out Thursday, Leah Martin was walking in the crosswalk on 131st Street when a car hit her and pinned her underneath, said Florida Highway Patrol spokesman Sgt. Steve Gaskins.
Seminole Fire Rescue arrived and used a jack to lift the car and remove the girl.
Martin was taken by helicopter to Bayfront Health St. Petersburg. She was in critical condition.
The name of the driver was not released. Troopers are investigating.
