PORT RICHEY —A bicyclist died Friday night after a car hit her while she was crossing an intersection.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol, R. Carl Menkens, 80, was driving his 2012 BMW sedan south on U.S. 19 approaching the intersection at Scenic Drive. The cyclist, 50-year-old Michelle Jane Finnegan, of Port Richey, was biking in the intersection when Menkens, of Largo, hit her.
Finnegan was taken to Regional Medical Center Bayonet Point, where she died from her injuries, according to authorities.
