RUSKIN — A Ruskin teenager was killed in a single-car crash early Sunday morning, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
Josiah Quirino, 16, was driving north on U.S. 41 in the inside lane south of State Road 674 around 3:50 a.m. when he lost control of the vehicle for an unknown reason and collided with the roadway's east shoulder guardrail, authorities said. His car traveled back onto the road, across the median, overturned and collided with the west shoulder guardrail, according to the FHP.
Quirino was ejected from his car and died at the scene as a result of his injuries, authorities said. He was not wearing a seatbelt and alcohol is suspected as a factor in the crash, according to the Highway Patrol.
