SUV hydroplanes into house in New Port Richey

The driver of an SUV lost control and hydroplaned into a New Port Richey home early Wednesday morning, according to Florida Highway Patrol.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, 23-year-old Chyana Voss, of New Port Richey, was driving a 2000 Ford Explorer eastbound on Embassy Boulevard approaching Greenbriar Lane around 1 a.m. when she slid on the slick, wet road and plowed into the garage of a home at 9200 Greenbriar Lane.

Voss was cited for driving too fast in wet conditions, the FHP said.

Both Voss and her passenger, Kelsey Stroh, 21, were wearing seat belts and were not injured, the FHP said.

While the crash caused significant damage to the home, the FHP said, the tenants were not injured as they were on the other side of the house when it occurred.

Alcohol was not expected to be a factor in the crash, the FHP said.
