Two dead in head-on collision near Brooksville

BROOKSVILLE — Two men died north of Brooksville early Tuesday morning in a head-on collision at Lake Lindsey Road and Ponce de Leon Boulevard, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

Timothy Allen Burke, 48, of Beverly Hills, was driving a 2010 Kia four-door south on Ponce de Leon when he veered into the northbound lanes, troopers said. The Kia struck a 2002 Dodge SUV driven by Donald Joseph Riopel, 48, of Brooksville.

Both men died at the scene, according to the Highway Patrol. The crash happened about 4:35 a.m.
