TOWN 'N COUNTRY — Two Hillsborough sheriff's deputies were injured late Sunday when a car slammed into their patrol cruiser near Waters Avenue and Hanley Road in Town 'N Country.
Deputies Christopher Barfield-Craig and Dana Graham were headed south about 10:51 p.m. on Hanley Road, passing through the Waters Avenue intersection, when a Honda Civic turned left in front of the cruiser, according to sheriff's officials. The Civic hit the rear driver's side door, sending the sheriff's cruiser spinning across a concrete median and into the northbound lanes. The cruiser then hit a BMW sedan before coming to a stop.
Hillsborough firefighters removed both deputies from the car and took them to St. Joseph's Hospital. They were treated for minor injuries, sheriff's officials said. The driver of the BMW, James Rivera, 50, was also taken to the hospital and treated for minor injuries.
The driver of the Civic, Alina Quintana, 18, and her passenger, Victoria Romero, 20, were not hurt. Charges against Quintana were pending, the Sheriff's Office said.
