Two workers were rescued from the side of the Times building Monday afternoon after the emergency brake on their rig engaged, according to one of the workers.
Gerry Gordon, 18, and Brendan Garcia, 19, were replacing the caulking on one of the windows when the motor on their lift locked up. They were stuck outside the eighth floor.
"We went to push down on it and it dropped a few inches and then the emergency brake locked up," Gordon said.
The building engineer called 911 after the two workers told him they were stuck, Gordon said.
Both workers made it down safely and were in good spirits when they were leaving the scene.
