CLEARWATER — A 63-year-old road worker was critically injured early Thursday morning when he fell off a moving striping machine, according to Clearwater police.

The incident took place shortly after 1 a.m. on Gulf to Bay Boulevard near Old Coachman Road.

Police said Leonard Singh, of Zephyrhills, was riding on the back of the striping machine when it went over a pile of dumped asphalt, causing him to fall and hit his head on the pavement.

He was transported to Bayfront Health St. Petersburg with potentially life-threatening injuries, police said.
