Authorities identify Jacksonville man fatally struck by pickup on Hillsborough Avenue in Tampa

Ryan Allen Kaytor, 31, walked into the path of the truck and died at the scene, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

TAMPA — Authorities have released the name of a 31-year-old Jacksonville man who was struck and killed by a pickup truck along Hillsborough Avenue on Tuesday.

Ryan Allen Kaytor walked into the westbound lanes of Hillsborough Avenue just east of Orient Road about 7 p.m. when he was struck by a 2008 Chevy pickup truck, according to the Florida Highway Patrol. Kaytor died at the scene.

The pickup driver, 51-year-old Bruce Kane, Jr. of Valrico, was not injured.

A 37-year-old California man who drove into the crash scene as troopers were investigating was stopped and arrested on a DUI charge.

Anthony Wayne Darden, 37, of Huntington Beach, drove a 2016 Kia four-door into the scene shortly after 8 p.m., according to the Highway Patrol. Darden was taken to the Hillsborough County jail and provided a breath sample of .101. A driver with a blood alcohol content of .08 or higher is presumed to be impaired under Florida law.
