Ben T. Davis Beach closed to swimming after sewer pipe break

TAMPA — Wastewater crews were fixing a broken sewer pipe Thursday night that's disrupting traffic on Rocky Point and swimming at Ben T. Davis Beach.

Barricades and signs directing traffic were located along N Rocky Point Drive E while crews repaired the 6-inch pipe.

The work was expected to be completed by Thursday night, but it will take until Monday, weather permitting, to restore the roadway.

A health advisory was issued for Ben T. Davis Beach due to the break and spillage. The spillage has been contained, officials said, but the beach was closed to swimming.
