Celebrity poker player Dan Bilzerian arrested in LA on weapons charge

Published Dec. 11, 2014

TAMPA — Dan Bilzerian, a celebrity poker player and son of corporate raider Paul Bilzerian, was arrested Tuesday on weapons charges in California, the Los Angeles Times reported.

Bilzerian, 34, was released Wednesday from the Los Angeles County Jail, records show.

He once lived in Avila near Tampa, the secluded home to millionaire mansions — including, notably, his parents' 28,363-square-foot house.

The newspaper reported that Dan Bilzerian was arrested at the Los Angeles International Airport after arriving there on a private jet from the Bahamas. He and another man were wanted on a Nevada warrant on charges of possessing explosives on public land. No details of the charges were reported.

On his Facebook page, Bilzerian says that he lives in Tampa, but he also posted a photo of a jet preparing to leave, with a comment in late November that he was "headed to Vegas," where he also has a home.

Bilzerian is famous for his playboy lifestyle and incessant Instagram posts with naked or nearly naked women. He has 5.7 million followers there, the Los Angeles Times reported.
