PINELLAS PARK — A 31-year-old Ohio man was arrested in a motel room Tuesday where he was found with a 15-year-old girl he had driven to Florida and sexually assaulted, according to Pinellas Park police.

Raymond James Curtis, 31, of Cincinnati, was arrested on an Ohio warrant for interference with child custody and on six Pinellas counts of lewd and lascivious battery.

The 15-year-old is from Hamilton County, Ohio. Her identity was not released by police because of her age and the nature of the allegations.

Pinellas Park police went to the Express Inn and Suites, 11333 U.S. 19 N, to find the girl, who was classified as an endangered juvenile. Curtis, who was acquainted with the girl, had driven with her to Florida a week earlier and repeatedly sexually assaulted her at the motel, police said.

She was taken into protective custody until her parents could travel to Florida and pick her up, police said.

Curtis was being held Wednesday in the Pinellas County jail without bail.
