LUTZ — A 40-year-old woman arrested in connection with arson charges last month now faces an additional charge of animal cruelty after deputies say she doused two kenneled dogs with gasoline while setting her home on fire, leaving them severely burned.

Brandi Corrigan originally was arrested on Aug. 25, according to the Pasco County Sheriff's Office. Deputies said she set fire that day to her home on the 23000 block of Turtle Lakes Road in Lutz.

First-responders found the house engulfed in flames. Corrigan, deputies said, was at the residence and had been moving items from it because she and her husband were separating.

Investigators determined Corrigan had painted graffiti on the walls of the home and dumped paint throughout it. She then poured gasoline around the home and covered the two dogs locked in kennels with it, deputies said, before igniting the gas at three separate points in the building.

The fire severely burned the dogs and resulted in repeated surgeries, deputies said.

Along with arson, she also was arrested for possession of methamphetamine, marijuana and drug paraphernalia.

She was being held Monday on $65,300 bail.
