PLANT CITY — Detectives have identified a suspect in a shooting that critically injured a man here this week.
Derrick Lee Leon, 19, fired at a mobile home at 2704 Quail Oaks Drive about 8:40 a.m. Tuesday, striking 53-year-old Martin Estrada, according to the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office. Leon fled in a silver four-door sedan. Estrada was taken to Lakeland Regional Hospital, where he remained Friday in critical condition.
Leon is wanted on charges of aggravated battery with a firearm, aggravated assault and shooting into an occupied dwelling.
Detectives say Leon may be driving a white 2001 Dodge Caravan with license plate number HSP E15.
He is a Hispanic male, 5-foot-5 and roughly 135 pounds, with a thin build, brown hair, brown eyes and a thin mustache. He was last seen wearing a camouflage jacket, gray running shorts and a black and gold shirt with Egyptian icons on the front. He may be armed with a Glock 21 .45-caliber handgun and in or headed to Polk County.
