GULFPORT — An 18-year-old man, wearing an ankle bracelet, was arrested Thursday after he was accused of breaking into 13 cars in a one-block radius over the last week.
Benjamin Langkamp Jr. faces 13 charges of vehicle burglary — each of which occurred over three days near 30th Avenue S to 31st Avenue S, and Beach Boulevard S to 56th Street S. All 13 had their windows smashed as well.
Based on the location and known criminals in the area, police say they pegged Langkamp Jr., who has been wearing a court-ordered ankle bracelet, as a suspect.
Data from the ankle bracelet and a confession from Langkamp Jr led to his arrest, police said.
