GIBSONTON — A lunchroom brawl at East Bay High School on Wednesday ended with the arrest of an 18-year-old student, according to the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office.
Justin Rohena faces felony charges of disrupting a school campus or function and resisting an officer with violence, according to records.
The incident started when the sheriff’s deputy stationed at the high school responded to a large disturbance in the cafeteria at about 11:30 a.m., the report said.
The disturbance involved many students, and as the deputy tried to break up the fight, the report said, Rohena repeatedly ignored his commands and kept running after other students. Rohena also kept pushing deputy’s hands away whenever he attempted to gain control of the student, the report said.
Rohena yelled "get off me," as the deputy grabbed his shoulder, the report said, pulling both to the ground.
The student attempted to run away and forcefully pushed the deputy again, the report said. Eventually the deputy took control of the student and escorted him to the front office, the report said. There, the report said, the 18-year-old again pushed away from two other deputies while they tried to handcuff him.
Rohena was booked into the Hillsborough County jail, where he was being held Wednesday in lieu of $2,250 bail, records show.
