CLEARWATER — Investigators are searching for a person of interest in a shooting Tuesday night that killed a 44-year-old man at a motel on U.S. 19, police said.
Clearwater police and rescue personnel arrived at the Super 8 motel at 22950 U.S. 19 near the intersection with NE Coachman Road about 9:20 p.m. after receiving reports of gunfire.
There they found Jermaine Crumpton, of Clearwater. He was taken to Bayfront Health St. Petersburg, where police say he died Wednesday morning.
Investigators are searching for a man considered a person of interest in the shooting. A photo provided by police shows him wearing a black jacket and gray baseball gap.
