HUDSON — A drug deal gone bad Wednesday night turned into a gunfight that left one dead, multiple people wounded and led to a car crashing into an apartment, according to the Pasco County Sheriff's Office.
Multiple shooters were involved in the incident, deputies said, and two of the wounded were reported to be in critical condition.
Deputies are searching for a fourth shooting victim who went missing after the incident.
There may be even more wounded out there: Deputies are searching for a vehicle involved in the shooting, a red Mitsubishi Montero sport-utility vehicle with a chrome roof racks, that fled the scene.
"We're worried that there's other people that may have been injured inside the vehicle," Pasco sheriff's Capt. Christopher Beaman said at news conference held at the scene of the shooting.
Deputies received a call at about 7:55 p.m. that a shooting had taken place at Ridgestone Apartments, a complex at 12429 Little Road just east of Beach Woods Village.
The gun battle took place in the parking lot, the Sheriff's Office said. In the aftermath, the agency said money was left scattered on the ground and a white Nissan Altima ended up driving into the wall of a ground-level apartment, causing some structural damage. The occupants of that car all suffered gunshot wounds, the agency said.
Deputies shared few details about the incident, and did not release the identities of anyone involved in the shooting.
