TAMPA — An altercation involving several people led to a shooting death at a restaurant and club in east Tampa early Monday morning, according to Tampa police.

Now police are searching for whoever fatally shot 27-year-old Kemar Odeane Officer.

The incident took place at about 1:50 a.m. at Island Grill, 3404 E Lake Ave. There was an altercation, then gunshots were fired and Officer was fatally wounded. Police said it appears the shooting was not related to any other active homicide investigations.

Detectives were also investigating a report from a man who said he suffered a stab wound at Island Grill related to the incident. The stabbing victim's injuries were not life threatening.

Officer was found dead inside the club, but 10News WTSP reported it was unknown whether the shooting took place inside or outside.

The intersection of E Lake Avenue and N 34th Street was closed as police investigated. The location was the scene of a fatal shooting once before, in October 2011. John Singleton, 17, went to a party at Island Grill and was shot when a fight erupted outside. He later died at Tampa General Hospital.
