Police: Port Richey man beat woman, stabbed 3 cops when they responded

CLEARWATER — A man committed domestic battery and then stabbed three police officers who tried to arrest him Saturday night, police reported.

Clearwater Police officers responded to a parking lot near Causeway Boulevard and Coronado Drive after a report that Justin Shuford, 36, of Port Richey was beating a woman. When police arrived, they found that Shuford had a small knife on him, according to a CPD release.

Shuford violently resisted arrest, according to the report, cutting three officers with the knife before they handcuffed him. Each suffered minor injuries. Shuford faces two charges of aggravated battery on a law enforcement officer with a deadly weapon, as well as charges of domestic battery, resisting an officer with violence and attempted first-degree murder.

He is being held at county jail will bail set at $200,000.
