Report: About 50 pounds of cocaine washed up on a Florida beach. Police are trying to figure out where it came from.

MELBOURNE BEACH — Brevard County sheriff's deputies are trying to figure out how 23 kilograms — about 50 pounds — of cocaine wound up on the shores of Melbourne Beach.

According to a report from the Orlando television station WFTV, deputies found the drugs — worth millions of dollars on the street — after a local woman alerted them to the suspicious package Friday morning.

A spokesman for the sheriff's office did not immediately respond to a request for comment Sunday.

The reported discovery comes just weeks after a Flagler County resident reportedly turned over to police a kilogram brick of cocaine that washed up near his residence.
