St. Petersburg man accused of destroying company data after being fired

ST. PETERSBURG — A 36-year-old man who was fired from his job in March was arrested Wednesday on allegations that he destroyed the company's computer data just hours afterward, according to the Florida Department of Law Enforcement.

Ivan Ross Marik, of St. Petersburg was dismissed from Cosmic Digital Design, LLC, on March 16, according to an arrest report. The website of the St. Petersburg business says it specializes in online marketing and web design.

Later that day, FDLE said that David Scott, whose LinkedIn page says he's the owner of Cosmic Design, discovered the destroyed computer data. The company said it suffered $277,000 in lost revenue and recovery costs, the arrest report said.

Investigators said Marik's internet protocol address was used to access Cosmic Design's computer system.

Marik faces one charge of committing an offense against a computer system. He was released from the Pinellas County jail on Wednesday after posting $10,000 bail.
