TAMPA — A substitute teacher at a Temple Terrace charter school molested a 14-year-old student inside his car as they were parked outside the apartment complex where she lives, the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office said.

George Washington Foreman Jr., 28, of 5623 Del Prado Drive was arrested Tuesday and faces charges of lewd or lascivious molestation. He is being held at the Hillsborough County jail on $25,500 bail.

Foreman was working was a substitute at Woodmont Charter School in Temple Terrace, said Colleen Reynolds, a spokeswoman for the school. The girl was a student there.

The incident occurred May 6, the Sheriff's Office said. Foreman was fired from the school May 27, Reynolds said.

"Our highest priority is the safety and security of our students," Reynolds said. "All employees must undergo a background check with the district and be cleared before interacting with students."

Detectives started investigating after one of the victim's parents made a report to the Sheriff's Office. Foreman arranged to meet the victim via email and, while in his car, he hugged and kissed her and touched her inappropriately, the Sheriff's Office said.

The Sheriff's Office is unaware of any other victims, according to a news release.

Foreman was arrested on a warrant at his home Tuesday. He also faces a charge of possession of cannabis after he was found with marijuana, the Sheriff's Office said.
