Authorities resolve 38 misdemeanor warrants at Operation Safe Surrender event

More than 30 people with outstanding misdemeanor warrants attended an event Saturday that allowed them to resolve their cases without getting arrested, the Pinellas Sheriff's Office said.

Most of the warrants, 38 in all, were related to failing to appear in court on offenses like traffic and code violations. More than $1,000 in fees and fines was also collected.

The event, held at the Suncoast Safety Council at 455 31 St. N in St. Petersburg, was organized by the Sheriff's Office and the Pinellas clerk's office, as well as Pinellas-Pasco prosecutors, public defenders, and judges.
