CLEARWATER — A 67-year-old man pleaded guilty Tuesday morning to shooting his neighbor to death last year.

Bruce Schunk of Clearwater received a 40-year prison sentence.

He was originally charged with first-degree murder. On Tuesday morning, he pleaded to a lesser charge of second-degree murder.

On July 4 last year, Schunk walked into neighbor Keith Lewandowski's mobile home at the Riviera Mobile Home Park, 29141 U.S. 19, and pointed a handgun at Lewandowki's wife, Sandra.

Lewandowski stepped in front of her and Schunk fired once, the Pinellas County Sheriff's Office said after his arrest.

Lewandowski died at the scene. He was 46.
