Clearwater teen accused of planting drugs, weapons in a Clearwater High student's car

CLEARWATER — An 18-year-old has been charged with framing a high school student for drug and weapon crimes.

James R. Harrison, 1058 Chinaberry Road, was arrested last week. He is a former Clearwater High School student.

According to investigators, Harrison planted a loaded .38-caliber revolver, a hunting knife and marijuana in a car that belongs to a 17-year-old female Clearwater High student while she was in class Aug. 31.

Clearwater Police Department and Crime Stoppers both received tips about a drug sale at Clearwater High soon after. The caller named the female student.

When officers talked to the student, she told them she had no idea how the drugs and weapons got in her car.

Harrison told detectives he committed the crimes, according to police. He has been charged with armed burglary, trespassing on school property with a firearm, possession of marijuana and removal of a firearm serial number.
