SEMINOLE — Authorities on Tuesday identified the woman whose body was found floating in the Intracoastal Waterway in Seminole on Monday evening and are calling her death a homicide.

The woman was identified as Charlie Enice Brooks, 36, of Colorado. Her maiden name is Madison, according to the Pinellas County Sheriff's Office.

County and police records indicate Brooks has lived in the area at least part time for several years.

She has been arrested on minor theft charges in recent years and listed her home as a residence on 5th Avenue N.

In the mid 2000s, she served nearly two years in prison for robbery with a deadly weapon, Florida Department of Corrections records show. She was released in early 2008.

Landscapers working on a home saw Brooks' body floating near the tip of Oakhurst Drive and called the Pinellas County Sheriff's Office around 5:19 p.m. Monday. Authorities brought the body to shore.

Deputies are asking anyone with information about the case to contact the Sheriff's Office robbery/homicide unit at (727) 582-6200.
