Federal agents seize records from Spring Hill doctor's office

SPRING HILL — Agents with the U.S. Health and Human Services Department seized documents from a Spring Hill doctor's office Wednesday in an apparent fraud investigation.

A department spokeswoman would not confirm or deny that it had conducted the search and the warrant was not available.

However, Dr. George Sidhom, who specializes in internal medicine and pain management, said agents told him they suspected fraud because his records indicated that patients were being seen simultaneously in his offices on Mariner Boulevard and in Brandon.

Sidhom, who has not been charged with a crime, adamantly denied wrongdoing, saying the discrepancies were the result of an electronic glitch in the billing system that did not result in monetary gain.

"I have never mis-billed or collected anything that wasn't due to me," he said.
