TAMPA — The Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office is looking for the driver of a stolen car that the agency said rammed two sheriff's cruisers and led deputies on a chase Wednesday.

A black 2006 Audi A6 was reported stolen around 6 a.m. Wednesday. About six hours later, deputies said they spotted the car in the parking lot of the IGA supermarket at 14720 Dr. Martin Luther King Blvd.

When deputies approached the driver, according to the Sheriff's Office, the driver put the Audi in reverse and struck the sheriff's cruiser parked behind it. The Audi then sped away through the parking lot, the agency said, striking another parked vehicle on its way out.

Two sheriff's cruisers tried to block in the fleeing car, the Sheriff's Office said, but the Audi went into reverse again and rammed the front-end of another cruiser.

The Audi escaped the parking lot, sped along Dr. Martin Luther King Boulevard and was spotted in a ditch by a sheriff's helicopter near Turkey Creek and Holloway Roads.

Deputies arrested Aaron Pegg, who they said was the passenger in the Audi, about 100 yards from the car. Pegg, 29, of 1381 Acker Road in Dover, was booked into the county jail on charges of resisting arrest without violence and trespass of a conveyance.

Detectives were still trying to identify the driver.
