Man accused of stealing dozens of jeans and shirts in Clearwater

CLEARWATER — Police arrested a 49-year-old man on charges that he smashed the glass of several businesses and robbed dozens of clothing items.

Alvin Darryl Moaning faces several burglary and grand theft charges.

According to Clearwater police, Moaning used concrete or other items to break the glass of Ariel's Tropic Fashions and Design Furniture Outlet & Consignment on Gulf-to-Bay Boulevard.

During one theft, Moaning stole 70 pairs of jeans and in another snatched 40 pairs of pants and 50 shirts, police said.

He told detectives he sold the clothing to buy drugs and support his family.

Moaning remained at the Pinellas County jail Monday in lieu of $70,663.
