A 19-year-old man is dead after a fight involving a baseball bat and a gun broke out between men in two cars just before 1 a.m. Saturday, according to Hillsborough County deputies.

The cars wound up near the intersection of Sassey Court and Cujoe Lane, when Marco Roque, 19, got out of a car with a bat. He started smashing the windshield of the other car, filled with people he knew, deputies said.

The glass shattered while James Dormany, 26, was inside. Dormany pulled out a handgun, deputies said, and shot Roque once in the upper body.

Roque got back into the other car and was driven to a local hospital where he later died, according to the Sheriff's Office.

Dormany has been arrested for being a felon in possession of a firearm. Deputies said the State Attorney's Office will review the evidence and determine if Dormany should face any additional charges.

Dormany, of Seffner, was booked into Hillsborough County Jail, where he is being held on $8,000 bail.
