TAMPA — A 17-year-old boy was shot to death Monday night in an apartment complex in the Woodland Terrace area of Tampa.
Joaquan Tyree Brannon was shot multiple times about 10:30 p.m. outside an apartment at the River Oaks apartment complex at 4206 Chestwood Court, according to Tampa police. He was taken to a hospital, where he died.
People in the area spotted a man running away shortly after the shots were fired. The man had not been identified as of Tuesday night, police said.
The shooting happened within walking distance of a Jamaican restaurant where a man was killed two weeks earlier. Christopher Williams, 45, was shot to death the afternoon of Nov. 17 outside Hillary's Sports & Grill at 6518 N 40th St. In that case, too, a man was seen running from the area on foot moments after shots were fired.
Detectives were not certain if the two shootings are related, police said. No arrests have been made in either case.
Anyone with information about either shooting is asked to call Crime Stoppers toll-free at 1-800-873-TIPS (8477).
