DADE CITY — A 28-year-old man was found shot to death outside a home at 12041 Carmen Avenue early Tuesday, the Pasco County Sheriff's Office said.

Sheriff Chris Nocco said in a news conference that Colton Thomas Roberts got into an argument with the home's owner, Jorge Ortega about 4:30 a.m. Following an altercation in the front yard, Nocco said, Ortega shot Roberts and called 911.

No charges have been filed.

"We don't want to jump to any conclusions until we get all the facts." Nocco said.

In addition to the Sheriff's Office, Dade City police and the State Attorney's Office are investigating.

It's not clear whether the men knew each other, Nocco said. Jail records show that Roberts had been arrested four times just this year, on charges of burglary of a residence, violation of a domestic violence injunction, grand theft, grand theft motor vehicle, armed trespassing and possession of opiates.
