A Pasco County high school resource officer was arrested on a charge of stalking on Wednesday after an ex-girlfriend accused him of repeatedly harassing her following their breakup.
He has also been fired, according to the Pasco County Sheriff's Office, which employed him.
Russell Knieriem, 45, who had worked as a school resource officer at Fivay High School since December 2014, admitted to continuously calling, emailing and texting the ex-girlfriend, an arrest report states. He joined the Sheriff's Office in 1999.
Knieriem was arrested after an investigating officer exiting the woman's home saw him drive by in his work vehicle, the arrest report states.
The report indicates that the couple broke up in May after dating and living together for six years. The ex-girlfriend told investigators that following the breakup, Knieriem harassed her through calls and electronic messages, even after she repeatedly told him to stop. She said she was in fear because she believed he had driven by her home on several occasions.
