LARGO — A Pinellas deputy received a 24-hour suspension Thursday after the Sheriff's Office learned of a previous charge against him.
During a traffic stop in St. Petersburg on Jan. 2, deputy Eric Vandommelen was arrested on a failure to appear warrant out of Pasco County on a misdemeanor worthless check charge. He was also driving with a suspended license, internal affairs records show.
Vandommelen, 48, was released from the Pinellas County jail the following day.
On March 13 during an interview with Sheriff's Office investigators, he admitted to writing a personal check on Aug. 1, 2012, from his bank account, which had insufficient funds.
Vandommelen is scheduled to complete his suspension this month.
