Pinellas Park police investigating shooting of 17-year-old

PINELLAS PARK — A 17-year-old boy suffered a gunshot wound while sitting in a parked vehicle on Tuesday night, according to Pinellas Park police.

The incident took place about 10:30 p.m. in the parking lot at 5170 Park Blvd. N near a McDonald's, police said. The wounded teen was not identified by police.

Police did not say if the teen was shot from outside the vehicle or inside it. However, after he was wounded, police said, the vehicle was driven a block north to 7770 52nd St. N. There, the other occupants abandoned the vehicle and the gunshot victim inside.

The 17-year-old was taken to a hospital for treatment of what police described a serious injuries. Pinellas Park police did not say what led to the shooting or identify anyone else involved.

The incident appears isolated and limited to the victim and whoever he was with when he was shot, police said.
