ST. PETERSBURG — The man responsible for killing a 40-year-old St. Petersburg woman in a hit-and-run crash earlier this year turned himself in Friday morning, police said.

St. Petersburg police say after an April 19 altercation with April Morrow at the Obama Express Store on 18th Avenue S, 24-year-old Anthony Ruben Rivera followed a Nissan Murano she was riding in with her sister. The sister, Tina Morrow, was driving. The Nissan crashed into a telephone pole when Rivera's car forced it off the road and drove away, police said.

Tina Morrow survived, but April Morrow died at Bayfront Health St. Petersburg following the crash at 16th Avenue S and Martin Luther King Jr. Street.

Rivera was taken to the Pinellas County Jail and was released on $20,000 bond. He faces charges of manslaughter and leaving the scene of a crash involving a death.
