A woman in Safety Harbor hit her husband on Saturday when he refused to take down a Confederate flag, according to an arrest report.
Margaret "Peggy" Rae Carpenter, 60, reportedly asked her husband, Larry, to take down the flag several times. When she approached him, deputies wrote in the report, Larry raised his arm to keep her at a distance. Carpenter struck him, her bracelets breaking his skin and drawing blood, according to the report.
Carpenter faces a charge of domestic battery. She was arrested about 5:30 p.m. Saturday and released on her own recognizance Sunday afternoon, according to jail records.
