Sheriff: Zephyrhills boy, 4, expected to recover from accidental shooting

ZEPHYRHILLS — A 4-year-old boy who accidentally shot himself on Wednesday night is expected to recover from his injuries, according to the Pasco County Sheriff's Office.

The incident was reported at 9:17 p.m. at 6733 Boulder Run Loop. The child, who was not identified, was flown to a hospital for treatment of a gunshot wound to the abdomen.

He is currently in stable condition but his prognosis is good, deputies said.

At this point, the Sheriff's Office said, the incident is not being investigated as a crime.
