Shooter accused of murdering Tampa transgender woman now linked to second murder

TAMPA — The man accused in last month's shooting death of a transgender Tampa woman has now been charged in a second slaying that happened less than a week later, according to Tampa police.

Keith Gaillard, 18, shot 46-year-old Tyrone Sean Davis in the back of the head with a .22-caliber handgun on July 26, police said. Davis of San Antonio was found dead the same day in Temple Crest Park. His family said they believed he was gay.

Charged Friday in the second slaying, Gaillard was being held on a first-degree murder in the death of India Clarke, whose body was found July 21. The Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office had identified her by the name she was given at birth, Samuel Elijah Clarke. However, she had identified as a female for years.

On July 26, investigators found a Chevrolet Impala belonging to Davis abandoned in a lot on East Louisiana Avenue in Tampa. Inside the car was a wallet containing Gaillard's Florida driver's license and a pair of Gucci shorts and white tank top, both stained with blood, a police report said.

A witness told investigators that Gaillard came to the witness' house that day in a silver Impala. He told the witness that he killed Davis, police said.

Upon inspecting the Impala, authorities found Gaillard's fingerprints on an air freshener packet, as well as on the hood and back of the car.
