St. Petersburg police investigate shooting that injured teen, 16

ST. PETERSBURG — Officers are investigating the shooting of a teen who was found wounded Wednesday in a SunTrust Bank parking lot near Lakewood Elementary School, according to St. Petersburg police.

Police said the 16-year-old was found wounded but did not reveal the events that led to the shooting. Police also did not know if the teen was shot in the area where he was found.

The 16-year-old was not identified by police. He was taken to Bayfront Health St. Petersburg for treatment. Police have not disclosed if they've made any arrests or identified a suspect.

The elementary school was placed on lockdown around 1:30 p.m., and that was lifted less than an hour later.
