ST. PETERSBURG — A woman was killed late Thursday in what police are calling a drug deal gone bad.
Police say Sheila Schooley, 35, drove to the home of Verna How, 30, near 13 Avenue and 28th Street N to sell her drugs. They say a confrontation took place during the transaction and Schooley drove off while How was still hanging on to the vehicle.
How fell to the pavement and struck her head, police said. She was transported to Bayfront Health St. Petersburg, where she died from her injuries.
Schooley is facing charges of leaving the scene of an accident involving death without rendering aid and operating a vehicle with a suspended driver's license causing death.
