ST. PETERSBURG — Police are searching for thieves suspected of stealing 12 air conditioning units, valued between $3,500 and $5,000 each, from various properties around the city in the last three months.

Investigators said they believe multiple people are behind the heists and that they are likely using a truck or van. Some small businesses, vacant homes and a church have all lost their air conditioning units, according to the St. Petersburg Police Department.

Anyone with information about the crimes is asked to call detectives at 727-893-7780 or text a tip and the word "SPPD" to Tip411 (847-411).
