TAMPA — A man died Thursday night after he lost control of his car, slammed into a guardrail and was ejected through a window, authorities said.
Ferris Lineau Grooms, 67, of Tampa was traveling south on the State Road 60 ramp toward Interstate 275 south around 2:30 p.m. Grooms lost control of his 2001 Lexus while navigating a curve in the roadway, authorities said.
The Lexus ran into the guardrail on the outside shoulder, veered back across the SR 60 ramp and crashed into the guardrail on the opposite shoulder. The car sharply rotated, and the impact flung Grooms through the driver-side window, authorities said.
Grooms landed on the road and was transported to Bayfront Health St. Petersburg, later dying from injuries.
