TAMPA — A man was wounded in a drive-by shooting while strapping his 5-month-old son into a car seat at an apartment complex early Monday, according to the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office.

Corey Everett Steen, 32, was shot in the ankle in a spray of bullets that came from a silver or gray Nissan Sentra, deputies reported. A passenger in the Nissan called out, "Do you remember me?" Steen told authorities he did not know the man.

The incident occurred at about 4:35 a.m. at 13130 Stone Fountain Drive, as Steen's girlfriend was preparing to drive him to work. He was taken to a hospital.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Sheriff's Office at 247-8200. Or, Crime Stoppers at 800-873-8477 offers a cash reward for information regarding the identity and whereabouts of the suspect, who was described as black, age 20 to 30, with dreadlocks below his ears.
