TAMPA — An early-morning argument Wednesday ended with one man dead in the front yard of an East Tampa home and his roommate being sought.

Police got the call just after 4:30 a.m. when neighbors near the home at 3210 E Ida St. heard gunshots. When officers arrived, they found Eric Best, 35, lying steps away from the front porch. He had been shot to death.

"Right now, it's not very clear what (the argument) was about," Tampa police spokeswoman Andrea Davis said Wednesday morning. "But this is not going to be random."

Police later said they obtained an arrest warrant for Antonio Javon Screen, 29, who lists the same address. Investigators said he is wanted on charges of second-degree murder, felon in possession of a firearm and aggravated assault.

According to county and state records, Screen has been arrested several times and has served time in state prison on cocaine possession and sale charges.
