DUNEDIN — Six teens were arrested early Tuesday on charges that they created two "destructive devices," including one that exploded in the Louis A. Vanech Recreation Complex at 3051 Garrison Road, the Pinellas County Sheriff's Office said.

Deputies responded about 10:30 p.m. Monday to a call about people inside the park after hours. While they searched for the trespassers, an explosion erupted near the racquetball courts. A second device was later found and it was safely detonated by the Hillsborough Sheriff's bomb squad.

Nearby residents were not evacuated and no one was hurt, the Sheriff's Office said.

Deputies arrested six teens, including four who are 19 years old: Tyler Wagner, Thomas Kemink, Bruce Edstrom II, and Christopher Campbell, all of Dunedin. The other two were juveniles. They all face charges of making or discharging a destructive device.

According to arrest reports, the teens bought items at Walmart to create the devices. The Sheriff's Office declined to say how they were made.
