ST. PETERSBURG — Two men and a teen were arrested Monday night for allegedly stealing alcohol from boats at Vinoy Marina, police said.
Cody Tompkins, 20; James White, 18; and an unidentified 17-year-old each face two counts of armed burglary. Police said one of the alleged thieves had a knife, and Tompkins, who was already on probation for burglary, faces an additional charge of violating probation. White also was charged with burglary for allegedly taking guns, a TV and alcohol from another boat at the marina on Sept. 20, according to authorities.
Security workers at the marina called officers about 11 p.m. Monday after Tompkins, White, and the teen reportedly fled the marina. They had allegedly broken into at least two boats, and a man was sleeping in one. He called security when he heard footsteps on his deck, authorities said.
St. Petersburg police officers caught up to the trio near 3rd Avenue NE and Beach Drive. They were carrying bottles of alcohol stolen from one of the boats, according to police.
No further information was immediately available.
