WESLEY CHAPEL — A man was shot in the leg Monday morning after he went outside and saw two people breaking into his car, Pasco County sheriff's officials said.

The man, who was not identified, went outside his house on Aramon Court to smoke a cigarette about 12:30 a.m., authorities said. He saw two men attempting to burglarize his vehicle and yelled at them to stop.

One of the burglars fired a gun, and the bullet hit the homeowner in the left leg. He was taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, the Sheriff's Office said.

Investigators had not identified the two burglars Monday. Crime Stoppers of Tampa Bay offered up to $3,000 for information leading to the burglars' arrests. Anyone with information was asked to call toll-free 1-800-873-TIPS.
